Date for Diary
This years end of season dinner/dance is booked for the 27th September, and so please put this date in your diary, full details will follow in due course.
Notts/Lincs Air ambulance
Following the Twenty/20 event on the 20th June, £2,000 was raised for the Notts/Lincs Air Ambulance in memory of Matthew. This was handed over to the air ambulance on Saturday 26th July (see pictures on the website). The helicopter was due at 12:30 but due to call outs didn’t arrive until 13:50. Thanks go to the Umpires and the lads from Killamarsh who stopped the game for 20 minutes to allow the helicopter to land so that the cheque could be handed over and for the spectators to have a look inside the helicopter(although it must be said that it missed the circle Thrower had drawn for it!!!!).
Race for Life
Julie, Stef, Ellis and Fran managed to get round the 5km race for Life course on Sunday in the summer heat wave we were experiencing. This was in aid of Cancer Research and we are hoping to raise £1,000+, there is still time to sponsor us and so please just fill in the form that is at the clubhouse or email me to contribute to this worthy charity.
Games this weekend
Saturday 2nd August
1st XI are away to Plumtree.
The 1st Team could only manage a winning draw against struggling Killamarsh last weekend, despite Brad Matthews hitting 66 and Kosie hitting 69; it is still very tight at the top of the table and so will make an exciting last 7 weeks!
2nd XI are at home to Ransome and Marles
The 2nd team lost against Welbeck on Saturday. However congratulations to Steve Thomas (64) and Rich Arberry (50)
3rd XI are away to South Normanton
The 3rds won against Basford Mill CC by 109 runs last weekend. Big congratulations to the Martin Mitchell who was 200 not out and Curtis Mitchell who scored 67.
Sunday 3rd August
The Sunday XI game at Sleaford was rained off just before tea….yes you read right…. rained off!!!! Although Hucknall and the surrounding areas saw sun all day, it went very dark and thundery at Sleaford and it absolutely chucked it down just before tea time and so there was no choice but to abandon the game!
This week the Sunday side play Balderton at Burntstump due to the Premier League Twenty/20 competition being played at Papp.
Papp, Kimberly and Cavaliers will play in the Twenty/20 competition with games starting at 10.30. 1.30 & 4.30. There will be bacon/sausage cobs and burgers throughout the day (weather permitting) and so why not come and spend the day at the home of cricket!
For full fixture information for senior and junior games for the rest of the week please visit the website www.papplewickandlinbycc.co.uk
Cope Cup Final – 23rd July
Unfortunately Papp lost in the final of the Cope Cup against Radcliffe, it was a tight game going to the last over, but wasn’t to be for our boys.
Spencer Cup
It wasn’t a great week for Papp as they also lost their first game in this local competition to Kimberley on Friday (25th July), however we still need to play Hucknall, Rolls Royce and Newstead (dates to be decided).
