2nd XI Match report vs West Indian Cavaliers 2nds

West indian Cavaliers 2ndXI 113 a.o Papplewick & Linby 2ndXI 114-7

Papp 2nds made it an exciting club double over west indian cavaliers this weekend when they followed up the 1st teams win with a win themselves against cavs 2nds. cavaliers won the toss and elected to bat on what looked a flat pitch with the sun beating down. but they very soon began to regret the decision. both papps opening bowlers john thrower and steve alford put on a classic exhibition of swing bowling to reduce cavs to 13 for 4. their excellent early work was followed up by spin bowlers rohan shah and kriss barfield, to reduce cavs 2nds to 113 all out. only assad hussain (35) offered any real resistance. alford returned figures of 4 for 21, shah 4 for 30 and thrower and barfield picked up one wicket apiece. they were all well supported in the field with graeme roberts (2) matt alford and jamie peat taking sharp catches. in reply papplewick were made to struggle by some accurate bowling from sheldon guerra (3 for 29) and ashad ishtiaq (3 for 25.) but some classy batting by jamie peat (32), rohan shah (25), and some dogged resistance in the middle order from matt alford (21) eased them home in the 38th over by 3 wickets.
