Games this weekend
Saturday 30th August
1st XI are away to Clifton. Another big game for the 1st XI lets hope they can see off the Clifton boys who are lead by ex Pap player Simon Roberts. It was a big weekend last week, with the 1st XI playing title chasers Caythorpe. The 1st XI lost the toss (again!) and were put in to bat. The runs were coming until the middle order had a bit of a wobble and we lost 5 wickets for 7 runs (127 for 8), however another 30 runs were put on the board and we finished up on 157. Some cynics round the ground thought that wasn’t going to be enough, but as Julie Rhodes said all we needed to do was bowl well, and we did! Wickets fell steadily with Daffy and Charlie seeing off the top order and some excellent field work from the lads. Kosie took the next 3 wickets and they were 94 for 9. It was left to Jim to mop up the last wicket with a catch from Charlie leaving Caythrope 98 all out! There were a few Whoop whoops from the crowd and a few drinks throughout the evening to celebrate the win. Papplewick and Linby CC - 1st XI Won by 59 runs
2nd XI are at home to Eckington The 2nd team lost their game to Caythorpe 2nds last saturday. Papp batted first but were soon in trouble at 55 for 5. The innings took a complete turn when Mick Henley threw caution to the wind and smashed the ball to all parts before being caught behind for 53. The innings finished in the 44th over as Papp were all out for a respectable 155, in return Caythorpe started well, but Mick henley then continued his fine performance as he sparked a mini collapse taking 3 for 26 from his 11 overs, however the winning runs were scored in the 41st over which gave Caythorpe the maximum 20 points. Caythorpe CC, Notts - 2nd XI Won by 5 wickets
The 2nd team also played on Bank Holiday Monday at the home of cricket against Welbeck 2nd’s Papp reached 198 for 8 but couldn’t get the last man for Welbeck who ended up on 161 for 9. Papplewick and Linby CC - 2nd XI Winning Draw
3rd XI are at home (Burntstump) to South Normanton The 3rds had another win last weekend against East Drayton. The 3rd team batted first and were bowled out for 142. in return East Drayton could only manage 56. Papplewick and Linby CC - 3rd XI Won by 86 runs
3rd’s also played on Bank Holiday Monday against Manton. Another win for the 3rd team saw them need only 13 points to win the league and be promoted as champions! Papplewick and Linby CC - 3rd XI Won by 5 wickets
Sunday 31st August
Home against Gedling. There was no Sunday game last weekend.
