3rd Team Match reports
Papp 3rd team continued their winning streak over the bank holiday weekend with two contrasting, but comfortable wins.
Papplewick & Linby 3rd XI 121 all out Misterton 1st XI 76 all out
On Saturday, a long trip to Misterton saw Papp put into bat, and dismissed for 121 with good contributions from Oliver Terry (28), Simon Bacon (24), Adam and Kev Rostance (14 and 12), before a crucial last wicket stand between Andy Bowers (18 no) and Tim ‘Simmo’ Simpson (4) of 18 gave the score some respectability.
In reply, Misterton never challenged and were soon 29-5 with wickets for Neil South (4-5) and Oliver Terry (4-30), backed up by some fine slip catching from Ollie Terry. After a 6th wicket stand of 38, the last 5 wickets fell for 9 runs, with Simmo taking 2 wickets in his only over!
Papplewick & Linby 3rd XI 199-8, Woodsetts Community CC 2nd XI 127 all out
On a cold and windy bank holiday Monday at Papplewick Hall, a fine innings from Tom Bowers of 70 led the 3rds to a competitive total of 199-8, ably supported by Adam Boucher (29) and Curtis Mitchell (36), with late contributions from Adam Bettridge (16), Simon Bacon (15) and James Harvey (12 not out).
An opening stand for Woodsetts of 80 between Manifield (39) and Mosley (30) threatened the unbeaten run of 5 games before bank holiday specialist Simmo (4-32 off 12 overs) and Martin Mitchell (3-46) turned the screws. The end came quickly with ten wickets falling for 47 runs, Neil South clearing up the tail with 3-23.
